Theme

“Food in Japan”

In this edition of J∙Festa tell us about an interesting or popular Japanese cuisine or ingredient found in Japanese cuisine. The possibilities are endless. It could be a traditional dish or recipe, a local ingredient, a seasonal cuisine, a regional specialty, a festival food, a staple food, a modern gourmet, a street food, an imported food that has a Japanese adaptation, a fast-food, a junk food. The list could go on. It doesn’t have to be a famous food but it has to typify Japan.

Aside from contributing within the context of the theme, there are only three very simple rules to follow:

  • Submissions should be made in accordance with the J∙Festa Submission Guidelines.

Ah Japanese food. Not sure what to pick :D .

  6. August 3, 2011

I was going to wait and see what others posted but then decided on a post about something rather well known, Japanese Kit Kats.

    http://blukats.blogspot.com/2010/10/happy-75th-anniversary-kit-kat.html

Not all the flavors I’ve tried but a few of them. It is an interesting concept to have seasonal flavors. Too bad we don’t get the different flavored Pepsi here in the US.

So looking forward to writing a post for this one! I’ve got a great idea that I’ve been debating if I should do or not, and I think this is destiny telling me to!

Wish we could have seen JFesta prior to our visit to Japan this past March, what a great resource!

I’d love to participate! I’ve been eating and blogging my way through Japan for a year now, but one of my favorite dining experiences was eating at Fantasy Dining: Alice in a Labyrinth. Japan does an amazing job at theme restaurants and cafes, and the food and presentation here was excellent.

I couldn’t figure out how to post a comment on your blog, but I liked your entry and the seasonal characters and candies and fruits of Koume that it detailed. Thumbs up.

      • August 9, 2011

Wow thank you C Ohara! I love that they thought up all the characters for each kind of sweet. I also love how there are different flavours for everything for each season. Thanks for reading!

Hi all, here is my submission. It was hard to choose just one from many of nice food articles in my blog, About Food in Japan. I selected relatively new and unique experience we had.

Well – it’s been a bit of a struggle – but I’ve got two entries this month (that’s both barrels baby on both of my blogs). Here’s the first one, a slightly off-centre post of fake foods (you know you love them) on:
    http://japaneseties.blogspot.com/2011/08/food-faux-pas-or-just-faux-parfait.html

It’s not quite what you had in mind with a food theme, but it’s the closest I can come to on my chronologically fixed Japanese Holiday blog. Quite fortuitous really.

  23. August 15, 2011

And here’s the follow-up foodie blog-post on my second Japanese-related blog… but this one’s at least about real Japanese food. Check it out on RaisingAdelaide… it’s mostly photos, but you might learn a thing or two about what Japanese Shabu Shabu and Old Norse have in common (though you may not want to). Here it is, Doing the Shabu Shabu Shake:

    Here’s my submission: http://tokyobounce.com/features/qa-japanese-foods-that-won-us-over/

Thanks for hosting! Japanese food is certainly one of my favorite topics to blog about (and read about)! :)
