Welcome to the theme announcement for the December 2011 edition of J∙Festa. The submission lines are now open and everyone is invited to participate!

J∙Festa is a blogging festival showcasing the best of Japan. If you missed the November 2011 edition, don’t forget to check out the twenty-one inspiring and thought-provoking submissions to “Dining in Japan”.

Theme

“Christmas in Japan”

In this edition of J∙Festa tell us about how Christmas is celebrated in Japan. The possibilities are endless. It could be related to the festive decorations and illuminations that adorn the streets, the commercialisation of Christmas, the Japanese adoption of the Western tradition or their adaptation of Christmas customs, the history of Christmas in Japan. The list could go on. It doesn’t have to occur in Japan but it must be an observation of the celebration of Christmas that is related to Japan.

Rules and Guidelines

Aside from contributing within the context of the theme, there are only three very simple rules to follow:

  • Submissions should be made in accordance with the J∙Festa Submission Guidelines.
  • The submitted article must contain at least one related picture.
  • The submitted article must contain a link back to this page.

  • Submit the article using the contact form.

Deadline

The deadline for submissions to this edition of J∙Festa is midnight Thursday 22nd December 2011 (Tokyo time).

    I like this theme. I’ve been here for nearly three Christmas seasons now and have noticed it grow and grow. I plan on taking the camera out to Tokyo this weekend (as long as it isn’t freezing like it is today) and so now I have a theme to shoot for.

    By the way, I noticed the deadline says, “Midnight Tuesday 22nd November.” Just a heads up.
